Bengaluru: The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) will announce a 10-20 per cent hike when it announces new power tariffs for all segments of power consumers on Wednesday.
The new power tariffs will come into effect from April 1. KERC Chairman M.K. Shankaralinge Gowda said that the new tariffs have been decided after holding public hearings across the state by a team of experts.
Sources at the energy department said that KERC could increase the power tariffs across all slabs and segments. "Domestic consumers are expected to feel the heat more than high-tension consumers," they said.
