Apartments resort to water rationing in Hyderabad

Associations insist residents install water meters.

Hyderabad: Water is being rationed not only by the HMWS & SB authorities but by residents too.

Many apartments and gated communities, mainly at Ameerpet, Miyapur and Uppal, are insisting that owners and occupants install water meters to their connection lines to identify how much water each household is consuming.

As per the Water Board, the standard quantity per house is 150 litres. During summer, maintenance charge is hiked due to additional usage of water.

With regard to pending water connections, the Board officials said new water connections will be released through the GPRS-enabled Green Brigade app after taking photographs of the premises so that there is no scope for irregularity.

Citizens with illegal water lines should apply on the water website (hyderabadwater.gov.in). to regularise lines.
