Fight within TRS for district bank chairs

Kin of ruling party leaders in fray, appointments today.

HYDERABAD: There is tough competition within the ruling party leaders, including ministers, for posts of District Cooperative Central Bank (DCCB) chairpersons. Strenuous lobbying is going on even at the highest levels among leaders of TRS to get their family members or aides appointed to the coveted posts.

DCCB chairpersons for the nine erstwhile districts will be elected on Saturday. TRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is set to announce the list of candidates on Saturday morning.

Sources within the TRS revealed that in erstwhile Karimnagar district, former chairman of DCCB K. Ravinder Rao may be finalised for the chairman’s post. In erstwhile Nizamabad district, Assembly Speaker P. Srinivas Reddy and Mr Ramesh Reddy, a relative of roads and buildings minister V. Prasanth Reddy, are in the race for the DCCB chairmanship.

In Nalgonda district, P. Praveen Reddy, a close relative of Rythu Samanvaya Samithi president, MLC P. Rajeswar Reddy, and G. Mahender Reddy are the front runners for the post. Mr Mahender Reddy is the husband of Aleru MLA G. Sunitha.

There is a tough fight in Ranga Reddy district between TRS leaders K. Manohar Reddy, A. Krishna Reddy, and P. Penta Reddy. All the three are lobbying hard with minister P. Sabitha Indra Reddy.

In erstwhile Adilabad district, Boja Reddy, Damodar Reddy, and Goverdhan Reddy are trying for the DCCB chairman post. Interestingly, the trio is closely associated with forest minister A. Indrakaran Reddy and former TRS minister J. Ramanna, who are finding it tough to make a choice from among the three.

Former deputy speaker and MLA Padma Devender Reddy’s husband Devender Reddy and former DCCB chairman Ch. Devender Reddy are trying for the DCCB post in Medak district. The TRS chief may give the Mahbubnagar DCCB chairmanship to former MLA Gurunatha Reddy of Kodangal.

Warangal and Khammam are also witnessing a similar situation, as close aides of local leaders are trying to lobby with ministers and MPs from their districts regarding their DCCB chief candidature.

Meanwhile, on Friday, Mr Chandrasekhar Rao appointed party election observers for the DCCB elections. They are: M. Srinivas Reddy for Nizamabad, MLC M. S. Prabhakar for Ranga Reddy, G. Balamallu for Warangal, MLC S. Sub-hash Reddy for Nalgon-da, MP B. Lingaiah Yadav for Medak. N. Naresh Reddy for Kha-mmam, K. Damodar Gupta for Adilabad, MP B. Prakash for Mahbub-nagar and MLC N. Lax-man Rao for Karimnagar.

TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao held a meeting with these observers while giving them the names of chairpersons in a sealed cover. He instructed the observers to coordinate with MLAs and aspirants while opening the sealed cover at 7.30 am.
