3 sisters die in sleep as wall falls on them
Hyderabad: Three girl children died after a house partition wall collapsed on them while they were sleeping in a room of their house on Thursday night. The parents, who were sitting in front of their house with their neighbours, rushed to their rescue after hearing the noise, but it was too late.
Another child who was sleeping with the three children had severe injuries on her head and hands but survived.
Six-year-old Roshini, three-year-old Sarika, two-month-old Pavani and the injured girl, two year-old Geetha, were asleep when a partition wall collapsed on them, the police said.
The father of the girls, Mitai Lal, a ragpicker, who lived in the house constructed by the government said, “We (he and his wife) were sitting in front of the residence at around 9.45 at night on Thursday. Our three children and my brother-in-law were sleeping in the house. We heard a loud sound and rushed to see what had happened. My children were shrouded by the debris. We tried to rescue them. With the help of neighbours we succeeded in taking out all three children and took them to Niloufer Hospital, Nampally.”
The three sisters died of head injuries while Geetha was injured on her right hand and head.
Based on a complaint by their mother K. Seema, a case of suspicious death has been booked and the bodies handed over to the family members after the post-mortem.
