TN Governer K Rosaiah unveils APJ Kalam's statue
Chennai: Raj Bhavan, which used to host Dr APJ Abdul Kalam many a time, now has a statue in the memory of the Missile Man, and former President of India.
K. Rosaiah, Governor of Tamil Nadu, unveiled the bronze statue of Dr Kalam at Raj Bhavan on Sunday, on account of National Science Day.
The Governor said that Dr Kalam was a visionary, a compassionate human being whose mission was to create a knowledge society and it was a privilege to unveil his statue.
Apart from the statue of Dr Kalam, there are statues of Mahatma Gandhiji, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Dr Rajendra Prasad, Dr S. Radhakrishnan, C. Rajaji and Moulana Abul Kalam Azad at Raj Bhavan premises.
Sculptor Kishore Nagappa made the bronze statue of Dr Kalam. The statue is 6 feet 2 inches in height. Many industrialists and dignitaries present on the occasion paid floral tributes to the statute of Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
