According to BJP sources, Vijayakanth had demanded to be accepted as the NDA's CM candidate.

Chennai: Narrating yet another short story to take a swipe at DMK president M. Karunanidhi, Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa on Sunday said she was serving the people without any self-interest unlike her archrival whom she indirectly accused of being interested “only in promoting his family”.

Addressing people of RK Nagar constituency after inaugurating a slew of development projects, the Chief Minister said one of the major achievements of her government was that of making Tamil Nadu “power cut-free” state and listed the measures that she took to help the poor and downtrodden.

Known for her penchant for short stories, Ms Jayalalithaa narrated one such at the meeting which is about a king who was looking for his successor and shortlisted two.
