Flood assistance: Prakash Javadekar hits out at TN for taking credit
Chennai: Union minister of state for environment, Prakash Javadkar, flayed the State government for “taking credit” for distributing flood relief of Rs 15,000 to each of the flood-hit families and also for the Amma Marunthugam.
“States like Odisha and Tamil Nadu are taking credit for the populist schemes like the one rupee rice per kilo and Amma Marunthagam implemented in the name of chief ministers.
The Narendra Modi government provides Rs 27 subsidy for (each kilo) the rice scheme. The Centre has been funding all the schemes by providing subsidy.
These states failed to acknowledge the role of the Central government,” he said on Sunday.
"Even during floods, Prime Minister Narendra Modi who visited Chennai immediately provided Rs 2,000 crore financial assistance and through this Rs 5,000 each was provided to 14 lakh flood affected families. Who gave Rs 5,000?
Here people say the chief minister has given," he told reporters at Kamalalayam - BJP state headquarters while attending the BJP media cell meeting.
He said the state government failed to give due credit to the Centre. “The Central government also provides 300 generic medicines at affordable cost. Here it is given as Amma pharmacy. Call it Appa pharmacy or pappa pharmacy. That's how it is being told here. So, the task before you (the BJP workers) is to tell the people the truth.
That is it is under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi we are helping all sections of the people including the farmers,” he added.
