Bengaluru: A road map is being prepared to develop the city at a cost of Rs 50,000 crore over the next five years, said Deputy Chief Minister Dr G. , here on Monday after inaugurating various developmental projects at the Shankar Matha ward. The ward development works will be executed at a cost of Rs 10 crore.
“Bengaluru is developing fast and we have directed officials to prepare the road map to tackle this growth,” Mr Parameshwar said. “Over 85 lakh people travel across the city every day and to reduce traffic congestion, we have planned to build elevated corridors at a cost of Rs 25,000 crore,” he said. Slamming the people opposed to the elevated corridor project, he said that some have made it their profession to oppose everything.
“The JDS-Congress coalition government is striving for the development of the city. We seek the cooperation of the public to carry out developmental works and request them to pay property tax without fail. Top defaulters will be named and shamed,” he warned.
He said that the BBMP will save Rs 17 crore by installing LED streetlights.
Shankar Matha ward corporator Shivaraj said that at a cost of Rs 10 crore, CCTV cameras will be installed across the ward, a full-time control room set up and an outdoor gym and indoor badminton court will be built. He said that all works are on in full swing to make Shankar Matha a model ward in the city.
