Hyderabad: School bus brake fails, rams into rtc bus, kids safe
HYDERABAD: A school bus belonging to the ACM Residential School, carrying around 50 students, met with an accident on Monday morning at the Medchal highway.
It hit an RTC bus, which had stopped suddenly on the road. Students escaped with minor injuries but were left shaken after the incident.
Eyewitnesses said that the RTC bus had stopped suddenly and the school bus driver hit the RTC bus from the rear, as the brakes did not deploy when applied probably due to failure.
The windshield of the school bus was completely broken and it injured some of the students. The bus had students from LKG to Class IX. The affected students were taken to a community health centre and given first aid.
An official from the ACM school management said that the bus had undergone fitness inspection and had certification as well. The documents were submitted to the police after the vehicle was taken away after the accident.
Mr Gangadhar, Station House Officer from the Medchal police station mentioned that the police had seized the vehicle and would be writing a letter to the RTA for a thorough inspection, after which the exact reason for the incident could be traced.
However, a parent on condition of anonymity mentioned that the school bus was always late in picking up and dropping off students. When asked, the driver used to say that the bus needed repairs which delayed him.
