CM Pinarayi Vijayan: Rehab plan for flood-hit soon
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday said a comprehensive scheme is being formulated for the rehabilitation of people who lost their means of livelihood in the devastating floods last year.
The chief minister told Assembly that the assistance being given to people who faced losses in the floods would continue.
He was replying to allegations of the opposition members that many families had not received even Rs 10,000.
He said the reconstruction work of 13,362 completely damaged houses had begun.
As many as 2,24,610 farmers had been given financial assistance. Those who are left out would be considerd soon.
Congress member V.D. Satheeshan alleged that the final list of people whose houses have to be reconstructed has not been prepared yet. Many people are moving from village office to panchayat and taluk offices to get their names included in the beneficiary lists.
The chief minister rejected opposition allegation that the commissioning of Vizhinjam Seaport Project had been delayed indefinitely because of the failure of state government.
The chief minister attributed the shortage of rock and Ockhi devastation responsible for the delay in the project.
Pinarayi said the government had taken steps remove the shortage of rocks.
The chief minister got upset when M Vincent sought to pose more questions even the matter ended.
