Case diary of a man who shared dais with PM Modi

K. P. Prakash Babu, Yuva Morcha state president, had been slapped with three cases recently on the Sabarimala issue.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Prime Minister Narendra was not perhaps aware of the fact that a person who shared the dais with him at Thekkinkkadu grounds, Thrissur, on Sunday was not in the good books of the state police. The man in question, K. P. Prakash Babu, Yuva Morcha state president, had been slapped with three cases recently on the Sabarimala issue, including IPC section 120 (B) which is for criminal conspiracy.

According to Pathanamthitta district police officials, Mr Babu had blocked a woman, Lalitha, 52, who had come for her grandson's 'choroonnu' at Sabarimala temple when it was opened for the special pooja of Chithira Aatta Vishesham in November last.

"BJP workers, including Prakash Babu, had surrounded Lalitha at Sannidhanam and tried to manhandle her, suspecting her to be in the menstrual age. RSS leader R. Rajesh was also slapped with section 120 (B) on criminal conspiracy charges," said the police.

Mr Babu had obtained anticipatory bail after he led a protest march to the house of Travancore Devaswom Board president A. Padmakumar at Aranmula. He also got bail in another case after the Pampa police held him under preventive detention.
