Now, pass BTech with 160 credits instead of 220

Also included are Constitution of India, Environment Science and Engineering and Essence of Indian Traditional Knowledge.

Thiruvananthapuram: The All India Council for Technical Education (AI-CTE) has reduced the number of credits required for BTech theory to 160 from 220 and made mandatory 14 of it for the summer internship.

It asked universities to constitute consultation committees to revise the curriculum every year and made induction programme a part of the model curriculum, which is available on its website.

The model curriculum encourages innovation and research as the total number of credits has been reduced and many new courses incorporated in consultation with industry experts so that students understand the industry requirements and have hands-on experience.

Though AICTE has compiled a standard first-year scheme and syllabi, the concerned institution or university can adjust them as per their requirements and local needs.

Also included are Constitution of India, Environment Science and Engineering and Essence of Indian Traditional Knowledge.

A novel concept of virtual labs and curriculum on entrepreneurship to support start-up ecosystem are also new additions.
