Pondicherry attracts fresh investments
Puducherry: Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy on Saturday said that the new industrial policy of Puducherry government is attracting more investors to the Union Territory, where the government has cleared the applications of 22 private entrepreneurs who came forward to set up industries in Puducherry and Karikkal. "Pondicherry Industrial Promotion Development and Investment Corporation (Pipdic) had already started to provide facilities for the investors, including allocation of land", he said while talking to newspersons here.
"The new industrial policy with several concessions to entrepreneurs, including capital subsidy and power at a low tariff has attracted investors from all over the country. Over a thousand people would get employment opportunities in the new units, " said Mr Narayanasamy.
Talks are being held with multinational companies based in Malaysia and Singapore to set up oceanarium and other entertainment based industries here. Indian Oil Corporation had also shown interest in setting up a tank at Karaikal, the Chief Minister said. Mr Narayanasamy said that he would meet union agriculture minister next week in Delhi to seek adequate drought relief fund for the farmers in the Union Territory.
He also said that a committee would be formed to consider the revival of the AFT and Swadeshi cotton mills in a private-public-partnership mode here.
