Hyderabad: Doctor had 1,800 followers on Instagram, 3,000 clients
Hyderabad: Mohammed Sujath Ali Khan, who was arrested on Saturday for selling ganja-laced chocolates over Instagram had 1,800 followers, He had never met any of his more than 3,000 customers across India and he communicated with them only through messages and mails, police said. His menu of ganja chocolates ranged from ‘X’, priced Rs 500 apiece, to 6X costing Rs 1,800, depending on its potency.
Police said most of Khan’s clients were pub goers, especially women. When police raided his house at Bahadurpura on Sunday, they found a parcel ready to be couriered to an address in Vellore, Tamil Nadu.
He was on police radar since December
A doctor was arrested for selling chocolates mixed with ganja, on Saturday. Rachakonda SOT police said Mohammed Sujath Ali Khan sold the ganja-laced chocolates through his Instagram account and delivered orders through courier to customers across India and received payment online.
Malkajgiri SOT inspector G. Naveen Kumar said Khan procured ganja from peddlars in Dhoolpet and chocolates from general stores. Police who received a tip-off on his movements started tracking him in December last and nabbed him from his residence in Bahadurpura where he was making the chocolates on Saturday.
Police seized 45 ganja-laced chocolates, a packed box, two packets of chocolate, 50 empty cups and ghee packets, mobile phone, laptop, bike and Rs 12,520, He was handed over to Pahadishareef police.
