Thiruvananthapuram: Cops to probe Rishiraj's complaint
Thiruvananthapuram: The police is tracing the source of the picture of a man resembling excise commissioner Rishiraj Singh participating in the protest by Hindu groups on Wednesday.
A picture captioned as the officer lighting 'Ayyappa Jyothi' on the street was being widely circulated on the social media.
In a letter sent to state police chief Loknath Behera, he urged him to register a case and take stringent action against those who posted the picture. He also suspected that someone had intentionally posted it to defame him. He had also sent a copy the misleading picture to him.
According to police headquarters sources, the state police chief directed the Hi-tech Crime Inquiry Cell as well as the special investigation team at the police headquarters to probe.
The Ayyappa Jyothi was organised by the BJP and Ayyappa Karma Samathi with the support of various outfits like the NSS to protest against the government stand to allow women of menstrual age at Sabarimala in the wake of the SC order in this regard.
