Bengaluru: No separate rows for men, women on New Year's Evening
BENGALURU: The police will not create separate rows for men and women on MG Road and Brigade Road on the New Year’s Eve and revellers can celebrate without any restrictions, said
City Police Commissioner T. Suneel Kumar on Wednesday. He said that the closure time for bars and restaurants has been extended up to 2 am to allow people to enjoy the New Year with their families peacefully. The flyovers will be closed by 10 pm to avoid rash and dangerous driving.
He said that 15,000 police personnel will be deployed across the city with four additional commissioners, two joint commissioners, 19 DCPs, 49 ACPs, 250 police inspectors, 400 sub-inspectors and ASIs monitoring safety and security. 500 CCTV cameras will be installed across the city. Of them, 300 will be on MG Road, Brigade Road and Church Street.
500 Hoysalas and 250 Cheetahs will patrol the city. Strict drunk and drive checks will be conducted across the city from 9 pm. No parking will be allowed in and around MG Road.
There will be restrictions on pedestrian movement on Church Street because of the ongoing works.
People will have to pass through special metal detectors, he said. He requested the public not to wish anyone forcefully and irritate them.
