Yadadri is first cashless temple town in Telangana
Hyderabad: Yadadri on Tuesday became the first cashless temple town in Telangana. All merchants including tea vendors switched to the cashless mode in two days. The Telangana Information Technology Association under its “Digithon” programme had taken up the task with the coordination of district revenue officials and the state IT department.
Announcing Yadadri as the first cashless temple town, collector Anita Ramachandran purchased coconuts through SBI Buddy to offer to the presiding deity, Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy. Government Whip Gongidi Sunitha travelled in an autorickshaw and paid by a cashless mode.
The TITA educated vendors and merchants on Monday on the necessity and advantages of cashless economy and they began adopting technology from Tuesday.
