Jagan wants to see smile on every poor man, says Speaker

Visakhapatnam: Assembly Speaker Tammineni Sitaram has said Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy wants to see a smile on the face of every poor person in the state and did a lot to uplift them during his term.

Participating in the Gadapa Gadapaku programme in Akkulapeta and Srinivasacharyulapeta in his home constituency Amadalavalasa in Srikakulam district on Monday, the Speaker said the chief minister ensured that every eligible person was given pension and that the money must be given on the first day of the month.

“This was never done by the previous TD government,’’ the Speaker told the villagers.

He said keeping up his word, the chief minister went on increasing the pension amount every year.

He said that during the term of the previous government, the beneficiaries were forced to bribe someone to get the pension or a ration card.

Unlike Chandrababu Naidu, Jagan Mohan Reddy started giving ration cards and pension to the people without considering their political affiliation. The remittance is done online in a most transparent manner.

“Even during the lockdown, there was no stop to the welfare schemes. Helping out the farmers, the government began procuring paddy by eliminating the middlemen.”

Local leaders and villagers were present in the padayatra.
