K Chandrasekhar Rao closing schools, opening bars: K Laxman

The state BJP chief also alleged that it was because of this that budgetary allocation to education is being reduced every fiscal.

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president K. Laxman on Wednesday came down heavily against the TRS government for ‘closing schools and giving nod for more bars’ across the State. He wondered if this trend denoted “Bangaru Telangana”(golden Telangana).

In a statement, he said that factors like penury, societal disparities and absence of transportation facilities, several students from the poorer strata were unable to get access to quality education and ending up as child labourers. He said that in order to address this problem, the Union Government had brought Right to Education Act. He said that Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) is not implementing this initiative because he hopes to privatize the education system.

He said that even more baffling was rather than establish government schools in every nook and corner, KCR was actually closing around 12 thousand schools of the 26,054 schools that exist. This is a conspiracy to boost private players, he said.

The state BJP chief also alleged that it was because of this that budgetary allocation to education is being reduced every fiscal.
