Hyderabad: Missing girl’s body found

Cops suspect she jumped from a nearby building to end her life.

Hyderabad: A 16-year-old girl who went missing from her house at Masjid Banda in Gachibowli was found dead under suspicious circumstances on Wednesday.

The police suspect that she jumped from a nearby building and ended her life.

However, no substantial reasons for the girl taking the extreme step were identified and the police are probing to find the facts.

The victim, 16, a native of Wanaparthy, along with her mother, Padma, and stepfather, Mogalaiah, moved to the city and was living at Masjid Banda area in Gachibowli. Padma runs a tea stall and also works as a maid at Xeno Platina Apartments, while Mogalaiah was a labourer. They were living in a hut close to the apartment.

On Tuesday night, Padma noticed that her daughter did not return from the tea stall and searched for her in the neighbourhood. At around 12.45 am on Wednesday, she along with Mogalaiah went to Gachibowli police station and a lodged a complaint stating that their daughter was missing.

Meanwhile, during early hours, the locals noticed the girl lying unconscious in the open place beside the compound of the apartments, alerted the couple, and in turn, informed the police.

Gachibowli inspector, R. Srinivas, said that the girl was lying unconscious in the open space and she was dead. The relevant sections of IPC were invoked and a probe launched.

“The investigation revealed that the girl entered Xeno Platina Apartments at around 8.48 pm and went upstairs. The circumstances primarily suggest that she jumped from the fifth floor and committed suicide,” said the inspector.

“It is also observed that when the girl jumped from the terrace, she fell on a tree in the compound of the apartment, and a branch of tree also broke and fell. The girl had injuries on the back, neck, and head. No other injuries of assault were found,” the inspector said.

He added that the body was shifted to OGH mortuary for an autopsy by a team of doctors.

Following the report from the doctors, the cause of death and other details would be ascertained.
