Chennai: Illegal liquor sale, 2 arrested
Chennai: Cracking down on those selling alcohol illegally, two people were found to be selling liquor in two different places in the city were arrested by the police on Monday.
The police have also seized 50 bottles of liquor and Rs 2, 400 in cash from them.
Based on a tip-off, a special team headed by Inspector of police, Madhavaram had conducted a raid near the Mukkadai Bazar in Madhavaram on Monday.
Following the ride, the police have arrested M. Gopal(45) of Ambedkar Nagar in Madhavaram who was found selling liquor. 30 liquor bottles and Rs 1200 was seized from him.
In another case, K. Kumaresan (48) a resident of Devakottai was arrested by the Velachery police for illegally selling liquor near the Perungudi Railway station. 20 liquor bottles and Rs 1200 were recovered from him. The two men were arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
