Supreme Court tells Hyderabad High Court to decide on police recruitment case
Hyderabad: The Supreme Court on Monday requested the Hyderabad High Court to decide on petitions with regard to alleged irregularities in recruitment of 11,650 police constables as early as possible. A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra was declining to intervene with a petition filed by one Banda Srinivas Goud of Ranga Reddy district, which challenged an interim order passed by the High Court permitting the government to make the recruitments.
A two-member bench of the High Court in March had made it clear that the appointments would be subject to the final outcome of the petition. The High Court had specified that the police recruitment board would inform selected candidates of this condition. Mr Srinivas Goud in his petition had alleged irregularities in the process.
Mr K. Sravan Kumar, counsel for the petitioner, said that despite finding discrepancies and lacking of transparency in the recruitment, the High Court had allowed the board to complete the selection process. The CJI said that it would not be proper for the court to intervene in the matter which was still pending adjudication in the High Court. Disposing of the case at the admission stage, the bench felt that it would be proper to request the High Court to dispose of the case pending before it as expeditiously as possible.
