Hyderabad: Shabbir Ali, leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, on Monday wished that the US delegation chief Ivanka Trump will visit the city frequently so that the TRS government would work to make the city beautiful. In a statement, he charged that the government had woken up to take up beautification and cleaning operations in some parts of the the city for Ms Trump.
He said the TRS government had remained unmoved by the travails of the citizens of Hyderabad who had “gone through hell” during the rainy season with pot holes, drain water stagnating on main roads, traffic jams and fallen trees.“For Ms Trump’s brief visit for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit, the state government is spending huge amount to black-top the roads and beautify the areas and remove ugly edifices so that they would not catch Ms Trump’s eye.”
Wishing that Ms Trump visits new areas in the city every two or three months, Mr Shabbir Ali said, “At least the roads in Hyderabad would get black-topping, footpaths will be clean and free of vendors and encroachments, medians will be beautified with paintings, and colourful garbage stacks and spittoons will be placed.”
He said Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had developed a peculiar attitude of reacting only to opinions given by foreigners. A clear example, the Congress leader said, was Mr Rao himself stating on many occasions that foreigners were laughing at the Secretariat which is why he wanted to build a new one at Secunderabad....
