I want to prove JJ Amma is my mom, says Amrutha
Chennai: Amrutha, the 37-year-old woman from Bengaluru who moved the Supreme Court seeking DNA test to establish late Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa was her mother, said she wants to prove that “JJ Amma” is her real mother.
Asserting that she was not claiming rights or seeking political space, Ms. Amrutha said her only goal now is to prove that “JJ Amma is my real mother and not my aunt.”
“I have moved the Supreme Court not to claim rights but only to prove my identity. My father (Parthasararthy) and other family members told me that JJ Amma is my mother. So, I had sought for DNA test. Also, I want the cremation to be done as per Sri Vaishnava tradition,” she told Tamil television channels in New Delhi on Monday.
As to why she had not approached Jayalalithaa when she was alive, and about the relationship she cherished with her, she said, “I thought that she was my aunty – elder sister of my mother (Shylaja). My adopted mother is Shylaja who is her (Jayalalithaa’s) younger sister. JJ Amma showered tremendous affection on me whenever I visited her. She used to hug me and kiss me too, just as a mother would. Now I feel her absence.”
She had visited the late CM at her Poes Garden residence, Secretariat, Siruthavur bungalow and vineyard. “She had showered so much of motherly love which I didn’t understand (then),” Amrutha said and denied that there was any delay on her part.
“During my visits, JJ Amma used to ask me to leave her saying it would be enough if I survived. So, that’s why my real identity was concealed. There is no political motive nor am I after her property. Before he passed away, my father: Parthasarathy told me that I am daughter of JJ Amma. Only thereafter I came to know the truth. Then my family also confirmed,” she said and however declined to comment who her father was.
On the threats mentioned in the court, she said, because of the threats she had to be raised discretely. “Ofcourse, Sasiskala was a threat to her. During the 75 days of hospitalisation, no photograph was issued. This showed the kind of treatment given to a Chief Minister,” Amrutha said.
She claimed that everybody including CM Edappadi K. Palaniswami and Deputy CM O. Panneerselvam, knew about her.“Will inform,” she replied asked when she would approach the High Court.
