Chennai: MET department predicts more rains

The city recorded 64 mm of rainfall with temperatures being a maximum of 28 degree Celsius and minimum of 23.8 degree Celsius on Monday.

Chennai: Heavy spells of rain continued to lash Chennai and northern districts of Tamil Nadu as low-pressure brought in the downpour on Monday morning.

Traffic snarls due to rain troubled commuters, while pedestrians were distressed with water-inundated roads.

Water reservoirs in Kancheepuram belt and Sriperumbudur can witness an increase in water levels as rains are to continue for two more days in coastal and interior parts of Tamil Nadu said the MET department forecast. While Chembrambakkam Lake with an inflow of 897 cusecs is currently at a level of 40.71 feet, Red Hills lake had an inflow of 84 cusecs with a level of 75.99 feet.

Meanwhile, Met department issued the statement that rain or thundershower is likely to occur at many places over coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and at a few places over interior Tamil Nadu. Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in next 24 hours.
