Hyderabad: The city police have taken all the steps necessary to ensure the maintenance of decorum during the GES processions. B. Sumathi, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Zone) and the officer in-charge of security at Begumpet Airport, said, “We are expecting around 3,000 BJP members to show up for the 15-minute programme arranged by the party in the parking lot of Begumpet Airport.”
She said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will have a 40-minute-long show at the Begumpet Airport. “He will enter from the main entrance of the old airport and meet the dignitaries. He will then fly to Miyapur in a special chopper to inaugurate the Hyderabad Metro Rail,” she said. The DCP said that the Airport area has been divided into four parts, and patrolling will be carried out on foot as well as in vehicles. “We have enumerated over 600 houses and buildings around the airport and identified vulnerable locations. We are placing enough armed vehicles in and around the perimeter,” she said.
The North Zone police have also been thoroughly checking busy spots such as Jubilee Bus Stand, Secunderabad Railway Station and the lodges in those areas. Checks will continue till the end of the summit. “We have given the security personnel proper ID cards with photos and have asked schools to function as usual because we have everything under control,” said Ms Sumathi.
