12 girls from IIIT-Hyderabad selected for GES
Hyderabad: Twelve girls from IIIT Hyderabad and the Gayatri Vidya Parishad, Vizag, have been selected to participate in the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES). A day before the summit, the girls were awarded mentorship and incubation at IIIT Hyderabad.
They were also given cash prizes by Startup India and Shiv Nadar University under the Prime Minister’s Atal Incubation Centre. Six girls were offered internships and a host of other awards by Wavelabs. The government of Telangana awarded one team incubation at T-Hub, and the government of Andhra Pradesh also offered incubation, investment and project support to the teams.
Katherine Hadda, the US Consul General in Hyderabad, while addressing the contingent, said, “The GES represents an opportunity to promote women and women’s economic opportunities, support entrepreneurship, and foster economic growth and prosperity for all. We are particularly proud to partner with the Indian government for this year’s program. The decision to co-host the event is rooted in both our governments’ firm commitment to develop entrepreneurship, particularly women’s entrepreneurship, as a means to uplift communities and solve problems.”
