Work on Amaravati Seed Access Road commences
Guntur: Work on Amaravati Seed Access Road has started at Venkatapalem of Amaravati Capital Region for the construction of a 23-km highway from Undavalli to Dondapadu. Besides this, seven other highways will connect Amaravati from all directions.
Further, two railway lines have been proposed to give rail connectivity to Amaravati and an international airport near Mangalagiri for the new capital’s air connectivity.
The APCRDA has estimated Rs 41,235 crore as requirement to develop basic amenities under which roads would be developed to international standards. Internat-ionally reputed medical, health and educational institutions like VIT University, SRM University, Indo-UK Health Institute, Amrita Sai University and others would start their institutes.
International and national-level schools will also start their schools. On November 3, VIT University laid the foundation stone for their institution at Ainavolu and SRM University and others are planning to perform bhumi pujas to start construction.
Educational consultant B. Srinivasa Rao said that connectivity and basic amenities are most important for internationallyreputed institutions. “The government has not yet developed roads, drainages, water supply, power, markets, hospitals, transportation, recreation/ amusement, sports and other basic amenities for international standard institutions but they are coming forward, trusting the government. So development of roads and basic amenities is the first priority”.
Senior lecturer S. Rahman said that the development process depends on good quality roads. So, Amaravati roads should be of international standard as, in future, construction materials, including machinery have to be transported for Amaravati’s construction.
APCRDA commissioner Ch. Sreedhar said two teams would be sent to Mumbai and Gujarat to study urban development and APRCDA will provide best infrastructure on the basis of Maharashtra and Gujarat urban development process. “Amaravati Seed Access Road works have started and world-class social infrastructure would be provided in Amaravati Capital Region by inviting the best developers of the world”. He added that besides road network, two additional railway lines have been proposed for Amaravati, connecting the capital with Vijayawada, Guntur, Amaravati and Tenali. A Japanese firm will study the Amara-vati rail project.
