Kochi: CIAL to connect eight more cities

Winter schedule from Oct 28.

Kochi: Starting Sunday, Cochin international airport will be connected to eight more new domestic destinations with direct services. These are Goa, Kolkata, Bhuba-neswar, Visakhapatnam, Nagpur, Lucknow, Guwahati and Jaipur. The services come in to force with the implementation of the new winter schedule from October 28.

New services to Goa will be operated by Indigo and GoAir while new Indigo flights will connect Kochi to Bhubaneswar, Visakhap-atnam, Nagpur, Lucknow, Jaipur and Guwahati. With this Kochi is connected to 21 Indian cities and 16 international destinations directly now.

There will be 1736 aircraft movements per week from the airport with 124 takeoffs and 124 landings per day.

The just concluded summer schedule had only 1360 weekly services. There are additional flights to Kuw-ait, Kuala Lumpur, Male, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmadabad, Pune and Chennai in the winter schedule.

The Indigo flight to Goa will be launched on December 1 while GoAir will start service on November 15. Indigo service will be daily at 9.40 pm and GoAir service from 3.20 am. The Bhubaneswar service will start at 5.35 am. The service to Vishaka-patanam on Tuesdays will be on 1.40 pm and on other days at 2.10 pm. The Bhubaneswar, Visakha-patanam services will start on December 1 while the service to Nagpur will start on November 15 at 9 pm.

The service to Lucknow will be at 9.20 pm on all days except Tuesdays. The Guwahati service will be at 5.40 am. Both these services will start on December 9. Already GoAir is conducting a service to Jaipur via Ahmedabad.

The new Indigo service is in addition to that which will operate at 3.05 pm on all days except Tuesdays. Indigo will connect Kochi to Kolkata on all days at 7 am except Sundays.

With an average of daily 15 services, Bangalore remains the most connected city. Three more additional services are added to Kuala Lumpur by Air Asia. Air Asia and Malindo have 24 services per week to Kuala Lumpur.
