Bishop Franco Mulakkal appears before DySP

Franco had reportedly ordered an inquiry against the nun after one of her relatives complained against her in 2016.

Kottayam: Bishop Franco Mulakkal, who is accused in the nun rape case, appeared before Vaikom DySP K. Subhash at 10.30 a.m. on Saturday and left after 20 minutes.

Franco, who was arrested on September 21, was given conditional bail by the High Court on October 15, which asked him to appear before the investigating officer once in two weeks.

The bishop failed to produce his laptop before the police as ordered and hence they issued a notice to Franco's PRO Fr. Peter Kavumpuram and told him to bring it before November 5.

Franco had reportedly ordered an inquiry against the nun after one of her relatives complained against her in 2016. The bishop had alleged that the nun raised the complaints against him after this inquiry was ordered. Police sources said the order would have been drafted using the bishop's laptop. Hence, the police wanted to verify his claim from the laptop.
