78 get license to sell firecrackers in Tirupati

Any violations in this regard would be viewed seriously and cases registered against the violators.

Tirupati: Tirupati RDO, G. Narasimhulu, instructed traders of the firecrackers who had obtained temporary trade licences from the revenue authorities, to sell crackers at their pre-designated places and ensure proper safety and security measures.

Addressing traders and officials at the sub-collector’s office here on Saturday, he said so far they had validated 78 applications received from traders for temporary licences and future applications would not be considered.

Speaking about the counters to be set up in the city, Mr Narasimhulu said that the revenue authorities had identified three places, namely, Nehru Municipal High School grounds, Raithu Bazar and TUDA grounds in the city to sell fire crackers for the convenience of the people and instructed traders to sell the crackers as per MRP.

Any violations in this regard would be viewed seriously and cases registered against the violators. “The traders should keep the necessary fire equipment at their shops as a precautionary measure, the stalls should be ‘L’ shaped and there should be at least 10 feet distance for each stall. Traders should keep sand buckets along with 200 litre water tanks, buckets and fire extinguishers ready at their premises as a safety measure,” he said.

He instructed the revenue, police, fire and corporation officials to work in coordination in this regard and asked them to make frequent checks at the cracker shops to make sure that traders were following guidelines.
