Kochi smart city to build second IT building

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A meeting of Smart City Kochi director board has decided to construct a second IT building measuring seven lakh square-feet and conduct a study to identify the firms that could be brought to Smart City.

As per an official statement, the meeting held here on Friday also decided to allot 50,000 square-feet in the existing building to Ernst and Young and one acre land to Singapore based Bernhard Schulte for setting up a naval software solution unit that could generate about a 1,000 jobs.

The meeting also reviewed the progress of the ongoing construction work of about 65 lakh square feet space of co-developer model and found it to be satisfactory. It also revealed that 78 per cent of the 3.56 lakh square feet made available for lease in the first IT building was leased out so far. The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
