Hyderabad: Sikhs to hold 5 day fete for Guru Nanak
Hyderabad: The Sikh community in the city will be holding a five-day event to mark the 548th birthday of Guru Nanak Dev from October 31 to November 4.
Two colourful Nagar Keertans (holy processions) will be taken out as on October 31 and November 2. A Vishaal Deewan (mass congregation) will also be organised at the Exhibition Grounds, Nampally from 10.30 am to 4 pm.
Baldev Singh Bagga and S. Gurcharan Singh Bagga, prabhandak committee presidents, and said the Nagar Keertan on October 31 starting from Gurudwara Saheb Secunderabad and will culminate at Alpha Hotel. Another procession on November 2 will start from Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Afzalgunj and reach Gurudwara Singh Sabha.
The celebrations will jointly be organised by Gurudwara Secunderabad and Gurudwara Guru Singh Sabha Ashok Bazaar Gowliguda.
Devotees from across the state are expected to take part in the procession during which Guru Granth Sahebji, the holy book of the Sikhs, will be carried on a decorated vehicle along with Nishaan Sahebans (religious flags).
