Bengaluru to play host to tech summit for start ups soon
Bengaluru: “Close to 70% of India’s chip designers are from Karnataka and the state’s share has been growing at close to 20% compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) over the last few years. We envision that the state’s output will grow tenfold over the next few years to touch $40 billion by 2025. To benefit the start-ups, the state government will organise a tech summit in the coming days,” said Mr Gaurav Gupta, principal secretary, Department of IT and Science & Technology.
After inaugurating MIPI DevCon 2017 here on Friday, he said, “It is fitting that MIPI has chosen Bengaluru for their first ever conference in India. Bengaluru is the recognised capital of innovation, thanks to its robust network of leading IT and electronics companies, research institutions as well as its vibrant start-up culture. It is the fourth largest technology cluster in the world and the fifth most-preferred destination in the world for the launching of global innovation centres.”
Managing Director of MIPI Alliance, Peter Lefkin, told Deccan Chronicle, “One of the primary reasons why we chose to bring MIPI DevCon 2017 to India is the fact that the country has a big technology development and geographical needs. We also try to provide resources and reliability in terms of software codes for hardware specifications. MIPI is not directly a consumer-based technology. It provides an opportunity for the companies to join the alliance, if they are in the noble space and willing to contribute."
There were five comprehensive tracks in the event, which briefed about the MIPI sensors, sideband interfaces and detailed MIPI specifications. MIPI Alliance is the mobile influenced industry that develops interface specifications for mobile that was founded in 2003.
There is at least one MIPI specification in every smart phone manufactured today and has 300 member companies worldwide and 13 active working groups delivering specifications within the mobile ecosystem.
