High-level team inspects Shobha yatra arrangements

Hyderabad: Organisers and all pandals have been urged to start the immersion procession early and ensure that they cross Charminar before noon so that the city’s biggest festival procession, ‘Ganesh Shobhayatra’ marking the immersion of Ganesh idol, passes off on a smooth note here on Thursday. The procession is expected to start in the outskirts by 7 am and will culminate at Hussainsagar lake and other artificial points.

A delegation, comprising ministers Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Mahmood Ali, GHMC commissioner Ronald Rose, city police commissioner C.V. Anand, water works director Krishna, district medical health Officer Dr. Venkat and other department heads, went around the procession routes and reviewed the arrangements from Charminar to Hussainsagar lake here on Wednesday.

Srinivas Yadav said “Electric wires and tree branches that could cause obstruction along the route have been removed. Approximately. 52,000 electric lights have also been installed at all strategic locations and all roads have been repaired. Around 34 lakh water sachets/packets are being provided in 122 stalls spread over the entire route. Similarly, 125 standing cranes and 244 mobile cranes have been placed at the immersion spots.”

He added, “Arrangements have been made in 15 hospitals for emergency medical services apart from setting up of 37 health camps. Nearly 3,000 sanitation workers have been appointed to ensure that the procession routes are clean while 33 additional transformers will ensure uninterrupted power supply. Overall, there will be 74 immersion spots along with 33 baby ponds.”
