Coop banks not cooperating with farmers: P Ayyakannu

TIRUCHY: Mr. P. Ayyakannu, state president of the 'Then India Nathigal Inaippu Vivasayeegal Sangam', complained about officials of the primary agriculture cooperative banks (PACBs) and nationalised banks causing heavy delays in disbursing crop loans, demanding fulfillment of impractical conditions.

Mr .Ayyakannu made this complaint during the monthly agriculturalists' grievances day meeting here on Friday, presided by the Tiruchy collector S. Sivarasu. He urged the district administration to remove all the bottlenecks against sanctioning crop loans and to ensure speedy disbursement of the same.

The CPI-affiliated Tamil Nadu Vivasayeegal Sangam's Tiruchy district president Ayilai Sivasuriyan urged there should be a permanent ban on sand quarrying in both Cauvery and Kollidam rivers in and around Tiruchy districts at least to start with.

Kavandampatti Subramanian urged to release 4,500 cusecs of water through 17 irrigation canals including New Kattali high-level canal.

IMr. Sivarasu 3assured that the sentiments of the farmer leaders will be conveyed to the State . He said it has been proposed to disburse Rs 396 crore crop loans during the current season in Tiruchy district of which a sum of Rs 90 crore has been disbursed so far.
