Bengaluru: 4 held in house theft, Rs 40 Lakh goods seized
BENGALURU: In a major crackdown, the Kothanur police arrested a gang of four house break theft offenders, including a murderer, who was convicted for life and was absconding after getting bail. The police recovered stolen gold and silver ornaments and other valuables worth nearly Rs 40 lakh from them.
The accused were identified as Sharath Kumar (27), a resident of KGF, Suneel (38), a resident of Viveknagar, Arvind alias Doll (32), a resident of Jeevanahalli in Cox Town, and Prakash Raj (22), a resident of Vijinapura.
The accused involved in multiple cases of house theft, attempt to murder in different police station limits.
Sharath was sentenced to life by a court in Kolar in connection with a murder in Marikuppam police station limits at KGF in 2014. He was moving from place to place to evade arrest and was breaking into houses to make a living.
Two others, Rajesh alias Mone Pillai and Ibrahim alias Laddy – who were part of the gang, are absconding. The accused targeted locked houses in Sampigehalli, Amruthahalli and surrounding areas. Rajesh and Ibrahim would recce the areas and identify houses, which would be targeted later by the entire gang.
After a series of complaints about house thefts, the Kothanur police took up the case. Based on credible information, the police managed to arrest Sharath, Suneel, Arvind and Prakash, while Rajesh and Ibrahim managed to escape.
The police recovered 1.262 kg of gold ornaments, 2.60 gm of silver articles and two-wheelers used for the crime total which are worth Rs 40 lakh.
