B S Yediyurappa orders probe into three more BDA scams
BENGALURU: Following an expose by BJP city unit spokesperson N.R. Ramesh, Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa has ordered a detailed probe into three more scandals in the Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA), including allotting hundreds of sites to former corporator A.H. Hanumanthegowda and his family members.
Mr Yediyurappa has directed the additional chief secretary of the urban development department to probe the scams. As many as 245 sites have been allotted to Mr Hanumanthegowda and his family members in the name of alternative sites. It is a known secret that officials too had connived with Mr Hanumanthegowda.
Mr Ramesh had pointed out how the BDA had allotted the sites in violation of the H Shashidhar report and Section 11/A of the Allotment of sites rules 1984.
Mr Ramesh told Deccan Chronicle that the BDA has to follow certain rules in allotting alternative sites. The property should have been registered at least one year before the acquisition notification was issued to the beneficiary to get the alternative site for the land acquired for a BDA layout. “Mr Hanumanthegowda has not submitted documents like RTC for 14 years, index of land and record of rights and other valid documents. But alternative sites have been allotted,” he said.
The BDA has suffered huge losses as the corner sites have been cut to allot alternative sites. Further, about 7.4 km of road from JP Mara (tree) to Koli (poultry) farm in Bannerghatta and 4.74 km of road from Iblur junction to Chikka Kannahalli in Sarjapur have been taken up in violation of the detailed project report and alignment plan.
