Smriti Irani says Telangana CM is anti-women
Ms Irani said the Modi govt had devised several schemes for women but the TRS for its own political advantage had not implemented them.

Hyderabad: The BJP has launched an initiative to make women aware of the TRS’ alleged failure in empowering them in the state with Union minister Smriti Irani launching the campaign in the city on Thursday.
She accused the TRS of doing grave injustice in advancing women welfare and told women to hold caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao responsible for depriving them of several schemes to achieve his narrow political objects.
Ms Irani said the Modi government had devised several schemes for women but the TRS for its own political advantage had not implemented them. She said the TRS government had refused to join Ayushman Bharat national health insurance scheme which guarantees Rs 5 lakh per family and had diluted the Ujwala scheme that provides free gas connections
Speaking at a Mahila Shankaravam programme at Chegunta in Medak district, Ms Irani said it was a pity that no woman was found suitable to become a minister in the TRS Cabinet despite sacrifices they made in realising Telangana statehood. “The role of women in achieving Telangana state was no less significant”, the minister said.
Ms Irani, who has acted in a film, Jai Bolo Telangana, reminisced her contribution to the statehood struggle,
On other issues, Ms Irani said the Modi government had not only announced schemes but was committed to their time-bound implementation.
She said the TRS was afraid of celebrating Liberation Day only to appease forces that thrive on divisive politics. Expressing distress over failing healthcare, Ms Irani said doctors and nurses had to wear helmets in clinics as they were afraid of a backlash from patients.
BJP state president Dr K. Laxman said women empowerment was only possible in BJP-ruled states and called upon women to strengthen the party.
