Hyderabad High Court admits plea on higher education council assets
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Thursday admitted a petition by the AP government challenging the proceedings issued by the Centre to bifurcate and allocate the assets of the AP Council for Higher Education in the ratio of 58:42 between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Thottathil B. Radhakri-shnan and Justice S.V. Bhatt was dealing with the petition.
Mr Krishna Prakash, counsel for Andhra Pradesh, submitted that the proceedings are in contrary to the Apex Court order where the Supreme Court directed the distribution of assets in equal share between the two states. It had only ordered the sharing of cash in the ratio of 58:42 between the states as per the population.
He urged the court to grant the order to share the funds of the Council between the two states as per 58:42 ratio.
While admitting the petition, the bench issued notices to the Centre and Telangana government and adjourned the matter.
