Centre clears major port in Prakasam

Union government has now come forward to develop such a port at Vodarevu in Prakasam district.

Vijayawada: In a twist in the tale to the controversy surrounding the proposal to set up a major port at Dugarajapatnam in Nellore district, the Union government has now come forward to develop such a port at Vodarevu in Prakasam district.

However, the ruling TD is not convinced of the intentions of the Central government to develop a major port at Vodarevu as it is difficult for the state government to hand over the required land to the Centre as the Enforcement Directorate has attached thousands of acres of land where such a port can be developed in Prakasam district.

The ED had in the past attached the lands allotted by the Y.S. Rajasekahar Reddy government for the Vadarevu Nizampatnam Port and Industrial Corridor spread in both Guntur and Prakasam districts, in the YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s ongoing illegal investments case.
