Warangal decked up for Bathukamma festivities
Warangal: Warangal city is all decked up for this year’s Bathukamma celebrations to be held on Thursday.
All the major centres where women congregate to celebrate the festival of flowers have been decorated with flowers and lights.
The Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation is leaving no stone unturned in making the arrangements.
107 centres have been identified where the Bathukamma would be conducted.
Major arrangements were conducted at areas like Waddepalli, Ursu, Padmakshi temple, 1,000 Pillar Temple etc.
Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation officials say since the start of Bathukamma festival on September 20, these works are taken up at a cost of Rs 57,05,200.
At Ursu, light bulbs were arranged to form images of Ravana and Rama at a cost of Rs 3,12,700.
Large-scale illumination arrangements were made at Padmakshi temple at a cost of Rs 1,75,000. Similar arrangements are being made in other important areas.
The police department has announced traffic curbs would be in place across the city to ensure smooth passage of the festival in major locations.
On Wednesday, Bathukamma festival was organised by the police department at the police parade ground in Hanamkonda.
Several women police officers and the family members of the police officials took part in the celebrations.
Police commissioner G. Sudheer Babu launched the celebrations with special prayers.
Bathukamma celebrations were held by the Mahbubabad and Jayashankar Bhupalapalli district administration on Wednesday.
Women in large numbers flocked the NTR stadium in Mahbubabad and played Bathukamma.
