Pay your own fare, CRDA tells farmers
Vijayawada: By taking up farmers’ yatra special, the CRDA has taken up a new avatar, that aims to promote the Singapore methods in the Capital region of Andhra Pradesh.
The Farmers First programme aims to educate and sensitise farmers from the Capital region on ways to benefit through commercial and residential plots they were given by the CRDA. The CRDA will take them to Singapore in three phases, as part of convincing them towards the Capital development.
The CRDA’s latest move to drag farmers into the consumerism mode received heavy criticism. It has mentioned in a communiqué that it would identify 100 farmers after receiving applications from them.
If the number exceeds 100, the CRDA has stated that it would go for lottery system. The CRDA said that the selected farmers would have to bear their own flight expenses, health insurance while CRDA would act just as a facilitating agency.
“The CRDA’s only aims to attract the attention of the agitating farmers towards Singapore’s development. They can also learn from Singapore trip how to convert residential and commercial plots as profitable and commercially viable.
The CRDA will facilitate the local transport arrangements and stay for the farmers in Singapore for three nights and four days. This exercise will be in three phases, from October 22 to 26, November 5 to 9, and November 19 to 23.
Some travel agencies in the country have been offering special packages to Singapore, Malasia and Thailand.
