Job racket: Senthil Balaji gets bail
Chennai: Madras high court has directed the Central Crime Branch, Chennai not to arrest former transport minister and a disqualified MLA from TTV Dhinakaran group, V. Senthil Balaji, till Tuesday in connection with an alleged job racket.
When his anticipatory bail petition came up for hearing before Justice R. Suresh Kumar on Wednesday, the judge directed CCB not to arrest him till Tuesday and adjourned the matter to the same day. In the petition, Senthil Balaji said that Ganesh Kumar, an employee of Government Transport Corporation, Chennai, appeared to have lodged a complaint on December 26, 2016.
On his complaint, Madras high court on September 8, directed CCB to file FIR if cognisable offence is made out. Based on this, FIR was registered against Senthil Balaji and three others on September 9.
The current government perceives that he was against the government and the Speaker disqualified him and 17 other MLAs. “The government seeks to wreak vengeance on me,” he said. Ganesh accused him of collecting '95 lakh for providing employment opportunities to 16 persons in the transport corporation. Ganesh deliberately implicated him in the offence. “Ganesh gave the false complaint about 23 months ago and I was not holding the post as minister from July 29, 2015”, he said. He said that cops making frantic efforts to arrest him based on the false complaint. Hence, he sought anticipatory bail in the event of arrest.
