Guntur: Swimmers of Guntur city sought development of NTR swimming pool in Guntur.
Guntur municipal corporation commissioner Ch Anuradha praised the efforts of NTRSP team for winning medals at the state-level swimming competition and felicitated them at a programme held under the aegis of the Guntur Swimming Pool Society on the premises of the pool on Wednesday.
The swimmers said 25 swimmers got gold medals in the swimming championship and sought development of the swimming pool.
Ms Anuradha expressed happiness over the Guntur swimmers winning the AP overall swimming championship. She said swimming is the best physical activity and exercise to keep the body fit and appealed to the people in the city to practise swimming and make good use of the NTR swimming pool. The swimmers said the capacity of the NTR swimming pool was just 25 metres and so they were going to Vijayawada to practise for 50 metres and urged the GMC to develop the pool.
Responding to this, Ms Anuradha promised to modernise the pool by increasing its capacity. She and other GMC officials felicitated 25 swimmers who won medals and overall championship in the recently held state-level swimming championship in Visakhapatnam.
