Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday asked the AP government and the AP Private Medical Colleges Association to spell out their stand in permitting students who have already taken admission in B category seats of MBBS course to opt for B-category seats in new medical colleges in the state.
A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice U. Durga Prasad Rao was dealing with a writ plea filed by one Himavarsha and another, challenging the action of the private medical colleges association in not permitting them to compete for 142 B category seats in the newly-recognised medical and dental colleges in the state that will be filled on Thursday.
The petitioners contended that they cannot be denied right to choose a better college before admissions close by September 30.
The bench told the respondents to inform the court by Wednesday why merit students cannot be permitted to appear for this phase of counselling.
