ASWARAOPET (BHADRADRI): A farmer in Gummdavalli village of Aswararaopet mandal lodged a complaint against a police sub-inspector for alleged brutality in a land dispute case with a third party.
The complainant, Enumula Veeranna, said, “I have been tilling my family land of 6.5 acres in Gummdavalli for the past 14 years. Two people, B. Janakamma and her son, B. Ramu, are claiming that they own the land and stopped farming works.”
He initially lodged a complaint with the police on August 22, but claimed that he was roughed up by police personnel on the order of sub-inspector Challa Aruna, after Janakamma filed a counter-complaint against him.
Veeranna said that he was called to the station on August 26 and that the police hit him with their belts.
“The police officer (Aruna) abused me in front of Janakamma and Ramu and directed the constable Siva to lash me 20 times by using a belt. My right thumb was broken. I am appealing to you to do justice to me in the case,” he said in his complaint to circle inspector Balakrishna.
Despite repeated attempts by Deccan Chronicle, sub-inspector C. Aruna did not respond to calls for comment.
