Teachers body: Lack of jobs will hit society

Presently, M.Sc graduates have the opportunity for working as a consultant at diagnostic laboratories across the nation.

Hyderabad: Lack of opportunity will take away the enrolment in the M.Sc programme by the science graduates who will not want to pursue further studies in this sector.

This is going to affect society as a whole, warned the National M.Sc Medical Teachers Association as there will be only research institutes available for employment.

Presently, M.Sc graduates have the opportunity for working as a consultant at diagnostic laboratories across the nation, or as teachers in medical colleges and research scientists.

With these two options highlighted in the proposal made by the Medical Council of India, there is only one sector which is open for them, the association warned.

There are more than 500 students who pass out with M.Sc degree every year in India, the body said.
