Kozhikode MCH to perform 100 free angioplasties

The primary angioplasty project is expected to begin next month.

KOZHIKODE: From next month, 100 lucky patients at Government Medical College Hospital here would be benefiting from the free angioplasty supported by Kerala Heart Care Society and Rotary International.

Society president Dr K. Kunhali said talks were already held with professor and head of the department of cardiology Dr Sajeevan C.G., and patients who are coming with a BPL card would be considered on a first come first serve basis.

“This is one area where we should act in an emergency. A patient in need of angioplasty would not be in a position to search and present all the verification details to avail of the benefits. So, it is up to the discretion of the doctor to decide, who should be eligible for the fund,” he said.

The primary angioplasty project is expected to begin next month. The society would also organise a seminar on yoga and heart to educate the public on the importance of yoga in preventing diseases.
