Unwilling to go to hostel, kid ends life at Saidabad
Hyderabad: Troubled by her father’s decision to send her back to her hostel, a Class III student committed suicide at Saidabad, on Friday. N. Gangotri is believed to have hung herself at her home.
Gangotri, 11, was the second child of Moti and Sujatha. Moti is in the scrap business, while mother Sujatha had committed suicide by hanging herself sixteen months ago, due to family troubles.
Since their mother’s death, Gangotri, her elder brother and her younger sister were sent to a government hostel. Recently, all three of them had come home for Raksha Bandhan. While her brother and sister left for the hostel, Gangotri refused to go. Officials said the girl would refuse to go back to the hostel each time she came home for the holidays.
On Friday morning, after her father had left to work, she was home alone. Towards the evening, around 3.30 pm, Gangotri’s uncle came home and found that the door of the home was locked from inside.
When he did not get any response, he broke the door down and found the body of the child hanging.
“He broke the hut’s door with the help of a few neighbours and found the child hanging. She was rushed to hospital but was tragically, declared brought dead,” Saidabad sub inspector Karunakar Reddy said.
A case of suspicious death has been registered and the body was handed over to the family after a postmortem. The police has begun investigations.
